AIST>RIO-DB>Network Database System for Thermophysical Property Data

Network Database System for Thermophysical Property Data is developed and run by AIST, and is available for free. Thermophysical properties data (ex. Thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, heat capacity, density, surface tension and vapor pressure) for liquid, solid and melts are stored in this database.

About Network Database System for Thermophysical Property Data

So far, a plenty of material / matter databases have been developed, but those databases are so called databases. In those databases, it was general that only one organization that played a roll as a data center collects, deals with all transaction to register, to administrate, to supply data.

The other hand, NMIJ (National Metrology Institute of Japan) suggests a concept of "Network Database System for Thermophysical Property Data", in which each institute that supplies data is responsible for its own thermophysical property database continuously and user can access to each database by one client interface "InetDBGV" through internet. And NMIJ has been developing the database that unifies each database and holds thermophysical properties like thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, specific heat, emissivity and so on.

This is based on the research achievements of "Research on Prototype Thermophysical Property Database System", one of the task of "Research on Measurement Technology and Reference Materials for Thermophysical Properties of Solids" which was supported by the Special Coordination Funds from Science and Technology Agency (Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology) during 5 years from 1997 to 2001.

Characteristics

The hierarchical classification of matters / material

Matters / Materials are classified into tree structure like as MS Explore. Thermophysical properties data are administrated by tree structured folders (Material folders). Therefore, it is possible to change the classification system and to re-construct it.

Display of recorded properties

It is possible to display all thermophysical property data graphically and its parameter dependence is displayed visually. The detail information like numerical / equation data, reference etc. is also displayed.

Graphical User Interface (GUI)

It is possible to display several data with the same property on one graph or calculate by the thermophysical property correlating equation between each displayed data on the graph by using SI unit for all data.

Search

It is possible to search material data by material names, chemical formula, specifying the range of property, and their logical operations.

Network of our database

The organizations that are involved in the thermophysical property database own the data that each organization is charged in, they are responsible for registration, update of thermophysical property data.
